Randy Oestman of WAC visits Cokeville

Randy Oestman of WAC (Wyoming Art Council) visited Cokeville at the end of the summer of 2008. He was able to visit with local residents, members of the Cokeville Art Council and interested citizens. Charles Dayton took Randy on a tour of the community. Karla Toomer joined them to learn about grants available to arts organizations, with an emphasis on the idea that arts in communities improves economic possibilities.

BYU donates to Cokeville Art Council

Charles Dayton of the Cokeville Art Council recently received a donation from BYU in Provo, Utah. Ken Packer, museum curator, donated the old art panels to be used by the Cokeville Art Council during the annual Minerva Teichert Invitational Art Show and Sale. They are also available for other public uses, through the Art Council.

Cokeville - "A Year of Art" 2007-2008

Cokeville Arts Council held a celebration of the arts from July 2007-June 2008. There were many featured events, advertised on television, in the newspaper, on the town bulletin board, on fliers around town, and some events had mailings to townsfolk.

There wasn't a cowboy poetry night held this year by the Cokeville Art Council. Chris Proctor, classical guitarist, was the featured artist this year. See "Cokeville - A Year of Art" for full details.

Governor's Natural Resource Tour - 2006

Two arts council ladies, Charlotte Freeman and Carol Reed, were able to run the Soda Fountain at the 2006 Governor's Natural Resource tour when it came to Pine Creek Ski Resort near Cokeville. The ladies had a lot of fun serving cherry and vanilla syrup in Cokes and other sodas. They said Governor Dave Freudenthal's favorite was the Coke with vanilla and he had several treats from their fountain. Cokeville resident Karla Toomer was appointed to be on the steering committee for 2006 GNRT and the group decided an old-time soda fountain serving Cokes in Cokeville would be a nice touch to the last day of the tour!

The Soda Fountain ended up being a bigger hit than expected when the Pine Creek Ski Lift, which was supposed to give rides up and down the mountain to the GNRT guests, was found disassembled all over the mountain on the day of the tour!

We will post the cute picture of the ladies (sorry, none with the GOV!) when we locate it.

The 3rd Annual Minerva Teichert Invitational Art Sale and Show was held in conjunction with the Cokeville Art Council's - "A Year of Art" program. Sponsors included the Wyoming Arts Council who provided a $1000 grant through the Arts Access Grant Program for the year-long program, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Cokeville Art Council (Town of Cokeville).
